For this module, check out the lists of online applications I've put together. Act as a critic and evaluate at least four online applications across the different lists. Try the sites out. Put them through the ropes. Are they easy to use? Would your students be able use them? Write an evaluation for each of the site you check out. Also, explain how you could use the application in YOUR class. Note: If another person has evaluated one of the applications already, you can build off their evaluations. I'd like to have the whole list of links evaluated though. Each evaluation you write should be about 150 words in length.

Note: All of these sites are (or were) FREE. If you come across a site that is no longer FREE, don't review it. For this assignment, I want us to examine only those tools that are freely available to our classrooms! Also, be sure to put your name with your posts.

Photo editing sites:
Pixer.us
JHeffner- this site was easy to use and you did not even have to log on. It is a web based application that is a photo editing site where you can download any pictures and edit them and then save the photo in a format you need. It was easy to crop, resize, change the brightness/contrast and any effects you want to make it look better. It is a simple program to change the look but does not fix any imperfections in the photo. All I had to do was select what I wanted to do and move a slider to make any adjustments. I opened a photo taken from a DSLR camera, so the photo was so large that I had to resize it to make it fit the screen. I was disappointed I couldn't zoom out on the photo. Good for easy touchups to a picture
Photoshop Online
FotoFlexer
JHeffner- another editing site for photos, but you must have a logon. They only require an email and password. This seems to have enough editing tools to be able to make good changes, but not too many that it is overwhelming. I enjoyed adding effects to the photo and a border to my picture. You are able to download pictures from a computer, Facebook, Flickr, Photobucket, & Picasa. It has basic editing tooks to crop, resize and red eye. You can also add effects to the picture, distort, add a border and decorations such as stickers. It is easy to save or quit. I don't like that it does not have editing tools to enhance the color and brightness/contrast, etc. of the pictures, but does contain enough other tools to allow students to create a unique photo to use in class.

Pixlr
Lallen: This website was awesome!! I tried all three options, Pixlr Editor, Pixlr Express, and Pixlr-o-matic. For all 3, I was able to upload a picture from my computer and do all kinds of cool things to it without ever logging in or creating an account. I was then able to save this edited picture to my computer. I am very much a novice with photo editing, but I was amazed at all of the things that I was able to do, which made me keep playing with/trying a multitude of different features. It was really cool. I am not sure how or when I would use this directly in my math classroom, but I was really intrigued by all of the features and plan to use this site for personal use and keep it in mind for future classroom use.
